MISMANAGEMENT AND MALADMINISTRATION IN U.M.C HAVE MADE THE WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM A TOTAL FAILURE AND RUNS ON TRIAL AND ERROR BASIS ONLY.
1.       Lack of required necessary technical staff from Executive Engineer to skilled labour like fitters and plumbers.
2.       Rain Water Harvesting not even implemented in the UMC offices Parks and schools.
3.       Underground water is neither monitored nor utilized for non-potable purposes. No regulations, policies or control over the private bore wells Even no hydrogeological map prepared in the department.
4.       Two rivers are flowing in township which could have been the source of water but no action is taken to revive them and make them pollution free.
5.       The obsolete distribution system lines are not disconnected even after laying the new scheme.
6.       There is no metering system implemented for house connections.
7.       There is no separate unit for leak detection and leak repair cell in UMC.
8.       No record drawings of water supply lines laid and running are maintained showing the technical details in any water supply section of the UMC.
9.       The consumers take new lines and discard the old and obsolete connection lines the boring points are not plugged resulting in huge waste of water.
10.   Consumer connections are allowed and taken from side drains and nallas from distribution line to consumer point and rusting of pipes takes place resulting in leakages and contamination of water.
11.     The estimates on trial and error basis are prepared passed and executed with inferior quality of G.I pipes without preparing and sanctioning any technical design as no data is available with the department of existing system in form of drawings and mapping.
12.   The connections are directly taken from the transmission lines which are only meant for transfer of water from source to refill the water tanks Hence tanks does not get filled and people in that area are facing scarcity of water.
13.   There is no computerisation system in water supply department for operations and maintenance of the system.
14.   There is no integrated system to track the complaint and compliance of leakages reported and repaired in time bound manner. Even freely available mobile applications are not used by U.M.C to rectify and repair the leakages reported by staff and public.

15.   Even though water supply from M.I.DC is more than the required by whole township but due to 40% leakages which can be curbed , Zoning system is not implemented due to interconnections of lines with surrounding zones in the old distribution system which are not disconnected. Resulting in uneven distribution and creating scarcity of water in the areas which are at high levels are at end points from the source of water.
